About Wisconsin Phone Directory

Wisconsin keeps its phone numbers in a lot of separate buildings, and the websites match. There is a state employee directory, an agency list, 72 county sites, hundreds of city and village directories, the DPI school directory, every campus, every utility, every hospital, plus the numbering references kept by NANPA and the Public Service Commission. Tracking down one number often means opening four tabs. This site exists so you can land on the right Wisconsin directory, area code reference, or hotline without that detour.

Why We Built This Site

Wisconsin has no single phone book, and it never really did. State staff appear in the employee telephone and email directory. State offices appear in the Wisconsin.gov agency list. Counties publish their own department pages, and with 72 of them the formats vary widely. Cities go three different ways: Milwaukee routes everything through one number, Madison posts department lines on a contact page, and Green Bay runs a searchable staff directory. Schools sit with the Department of Public Instruction, campuses run their own searches, and utilities split emergency lines away from billing lines. On top of all that, eight area codes and three overlay pairs decide how many digits a local call takes. We gather the lookup tools, the contact routes, and the reference data for that whole spread into one place.
